A heating contractor (specializing in infrared panel heating systems) needs up to 6 hours to prepare a quotation.

The quotation was prepared in the following steps:

• Copy last similar offer in PowerPoint
• Replace floor plan
• Mark individual rooms on the floor plan
• manually draw in different heating tracks for walls, floor and ceiling
• List the heating tracks and calculate and note the corresponding parts list of materials required for the entire heating system
• Estimate the time required from the parts list and the planned work steps
• Create a summary, including a quote price, based on the drawing, parts list and work involved

Solution

By creating a Windows tool, the quotation process is made as simple and quick as possible.

To create a quotation, simply load the floor plan into the program, then mark and assign the rooms (e.g. living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, hallway).

The tool automatically calculates the required heating tracks, including the materials list and installation costs, and creates the basic version of the quotation.

Increase in value

It now takes approx. 15 minutes to create a quotation. 2 minutes to create the initial version of the quotation in the tool and then approx. 10 minutes to check the quotation and adjust any details.

Up to this point, the owner had to work in double shifts. The second shift was used to create one quote per day. Now he could prepare up to 24 quotations a day in the same amount of time or have more time for other important tasks.
