Fair Company is the largest employer initiative in Germany that is committed to a fair working environment. The award recognizes committed companies that offer young people fair, attractive working conditions and promote their development.
We at new direction GmbH are delighted to receive this award, because fairness in practice is more important than ever in the labor market - and a decisive competitive advantage.
The Fair Company Initiative
The Fair Company Initiative was founded in 2004 by the Handelsblatt newspaper and creates transparency and guidance when choosing an employer. Around 500 companies of all sizes, sectors and regions are entitled to bear the Fair Company seal.
For the award, various areas such as work organization & leadership, remuneration & development opportunities as well as corporate culture & values are examined in detail.
Here is a brief insight into some of the decisive criteria:
- Equal treatment of all employees: Employees want transparent and meaningful interaction, where everyone is aware of their responsibilities and can work in relatively flat hierarchies
- Neutral and objective assessment for promotions: A transparent system with regard to promotions plays a major role, as authorities and people in positions of responsibility are not accepted per se, but are definitely scrutinized.
- Fair behavior in the market and in relation to the environment and society: Fair behavior in the market plays a decisive role in employer attractiveness.
- Aligning corporate values with fairness criteria: It is important for young recruits to be open and fair about how long an employment relationship is (likely to) last. Emotional aspects also play a major role when choosing an employer or assessing their work situation and satisfaction.
- Individual assessment of work performance: It is becoming increasingly important to assess work performance individually and place it in the context of the employee's life and professional situation.
- Performance-related salary and special payments with a high level of transparency: Young professionals feel it is unfair to receive lower pay for the same performance due to seniority.
- Investment in employees: A corresponding (also financial) commitment from the employer is expected here, particularly with regard to further training opportunities, but also in terms of support to improve work-life balance.
- Transfer of responsibility: The opportunity to work independently, take responsibility, make decisions and to a certain extent realize their own potential and experience “autonomy” is more important than ever for employees today.
- Positive working atmosphere: “I am proud to work for this employer” - it is precisely this identification with the company that is becoming increasingly important. Many attach great importance to identifying with the company's values and being able to actively contribute their ideas and suggestions.
- Commitment to promises: Employees react extremely sensitively if promises made by the employer are not kept. This can lead them to change employers as quickly as possible.
- Flat hierarchies in management: Flat hierarchies meet the need for participation and cooperation within the company.
Living fairness
Demographic change, a shortage of skilled workers and the recruitment of young talent are important issues that affect the economy and companies. In a strong employee market, companies need to apply to candidates in the same way.
Fair, individual working conditions are more important than ever. But employees are also focusing on corporate culture and commitment to society and the environment.
If you come from the IT sector and are looking for an employer that covers the criteria that are important to you - apply to us! As a fair company, we look forward to hearing from you.
